Having opened in February of this year, Your CBD Store of Simsbury has been facing the challenges all business have during the pandemic and accompanying closings.
There have also been challenges for the black, female owners, Nakia Kearse and Katonya Hughey, with the heightened awareness of diversity and being in a community that isn’t known for its diversity.
“Our grand opening was scheduled for March 19 – the week after they closed the schools,” Kearse said. “We ended up cancelling everything.”
It’s been challenging to build a business, which hasn’t yet built a client base, when the physical shop is closed, and people are distracted. With a sense of urgency, the store had to recreate its website to accommodate online ordering, as well as online consulting.
