In the latest appeal online, the force shared a message from Trading Standards which has received bizarre reports of sellers marketing oils and foods as a treatment for the deadly virus.

It said: “As far as we are aware there are no authorised health claims relating to CBD oil.”

It added: “You cannot make any claims in relation to food or food supplements which attribute to the property of preventing, treating or curing a human disease, nor can such properties be referred to.”
