CBD bill adds treatable conditions, changes cap on THC

Lawmakers in the Iowa House approved a bill that adds conditions to Iowa’s CBD program Tuesday, but changed the cap of THC in the medical cannabidiol.

House File 2589 adds severe autism and post-traumatic stress disorder to the list of qualifying conditions.

The bill also caps the amount of THC at 4.5 grams per 90 days. THC is a chemical in marijuana that makes people feel high.

MedPharm, which manufactures medical cannabidiol oil, wants to get rid of the cap and add a purchase limit of 17 grams per 90 days for patients.
